I have been getting some interesting questions lately from my other Tumblr. I know this is my dance blog and all, but if you want to see more action, add my personal Tumblr too. Peace!
From time to time I’ll get asked about the shoes I wear for dancing. While not every shoe works for everyone’s feet, these do it for me. They’re called “Nike Air Max 90,” and some of you might have noticed that I wear the colorway in the front (Infrared) religiously - since 2005, actually. I love them so much I have 3 pairs. I think running shoes are great for house dance in general since they make rolling onto your toes a lot easier. I find that the ones with the mesh fit the best for dancing; go give them a try, you might like it.
Came back last night from a week in Chicago. Probably the dopest city I know of. It’s cleaner than New York and feels more “city” than San Francisco. If it only had San Francisco’s weather and New York’s dance scene, it would be perfect. Here’s a picture I took from 103rd floor of the Sears tower (now named Willis tower).
New tutorial for you guys. I had fun with the names, but no one seems to be questioning it. I think I’ll try harder and name the next move “Nipple Skip” or something similar.
Just sent out my first batch of emails to the people who subscribed to JardySantiago.com. I included my first subscription-only tutorial video. It’s gonna be part of a series called “Musicality.” If you haven’t signed up yet, please do! Peace.
So I was watching the “Check Your Body At The Door” house dance documentary while running on the treadmill. Learned how dangerous it is to dance on a treadmill.
It was such a pleasure to work with this group, Next.Ep, during my last few weeks in the Philippines. They’re a hip hop choreography group, but that did not stop them from challenging themselves to new artforms. This video is titled “Home” and it’s my tribute to the wonderful time I had in the Motherland.
This is a show I took part of in Jakarta, Indonesia on August 7, 2011. It’s over an hour and a half long full of different dance styles, but if you want to skip to the house parts, go to 32:00 for a 30 minute interview where I talk about house, 1:03:00 for a house demonstration, and skip to 1:34:00 for my collaboration with Indonesia group, What’s Your Flava.

Ok, so everything below this post are reblogs that I thought would be appropriate for this page from my personal blog, “I Like Turtles,” that I’ve had for a couple of years. I’ll continue to write more about dance, music, and style related topics on this page, and you can also check out my photography blog here. Peace.
